I'm working on a narrative non-fiction piece about my family and their involvement in WWII. Using over 150 family letters from the 1920's, 1930's, 1940's and 1950's guide this story of one family's evolution through the war years. My grandfather was a Manhattan Project Engineer working in Boston and Oak Ridge, and who died in Knoxville, TN, in 1945; his oldest son, my uncle, a member of the 10th Mountain Division; the younger son, my father, worked on aspects of the Manhattan Project for Stone & Webster, in Boston; and their wife and other, my grandmother, who managed the family communications and schedules and cared for her elderly mother at home.
